Spicy is an untether package for iOS 11.x developed by the well-known development team of Jake Blair. Spicy exploits the new kernel vulnerability, through which Electra & UnC0ver Jailbreak gained iOS 11.4.x support, that Apple had patched up in iOS 12. The package is untethered as it writes a script into the boot chain, each time you will reboot your iOS device. Jake Blair and his time even uploaded a video for the untether package on their official YouTube channel. You can access the same from here.
As we have mentioned in the paragraph above, the package writes a script into the boot chain each time you reboot your iOS device. Hence, it will take a significantly longer time for an iOS device to boot up with Spicy. The developers are working on reducing the boot-up time, however, we are not sure when the update will be available.
Spicy Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 11.x by Team Jake Blair
Spicy supports the entire list of iOS 11 versions till iOS 11.4.1. Moreover, it is compatible with all the devices which can run the iOS 11 operating system. Therefore, iPhone X, iPhone 8/8+ and all below models are supported by the untethered package. Please note, as of now, the jailbreak hasn’t been released for the public since the development team wants to make sure that it runs smoothly with each device and firmware combination.
Can we expect an untethered jailbreak for iOS 12 in the future?
Untethered jailbreak had disappeared from the scenes altogether. According to various developers, it was not even possible now due to the stringent security measures which Apple places on the iOS operating system. However, with Spicy untethered package, untethered jailbreak had become a possibility again. If you are on iOS 11.x, please hold off from upgrading to iOS 12 as we are expecting the Spicy Untethered Jailbreak to become available for the public soon. Moreover, Spicy had laid the foundation of the development of an untethered jailbreak for iOS 12. Overall, with so many tweaks and exploits coming up, it is a golden period going on for the jailbreak community. Stay tuned with us for more updates.
